What you'd want written down for your household, in plain terms.
- • Who's in the household.
- • Who might need more time to leave.
- • Anything that changes how you'd plan.
2. People and places
A contact, and one place near home plus one further away where people would meet.
- • Someone outside the area who could relay messages.
- • A close meeting spot.
- • A further meeting spot.
3. The 72-hour kit
What you'd want to be able to reach without power, water, or a phone signal.
- • Water and shelf-stable food.
- • Any medication you rely on.
- • A light, a charger, and a way to hear news.
- • A paper copy of what matters.
4. Calls for help
Anything that would change how you'd call for help or wait for instructions.
5. Weather, power, and other interruptions
Notes for the interruptions most likely where you live.
- • What you'd do in a long power outage.
- • Where you'd go if the air got bad.
- • How you'd keep food cold or get water.
6. Vehicles and travel to a place of safety
Only fill this in if you have a vehicle or a regular trip to plan.
7. Quarterly reset
A date you'd check the kit, replace what's expired, and re-check the contacts.
